Matt graduated with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Matt submitted his first patent when he was an intern for AMP Incorporated. As a graduate student, Matt developed a low-profile wide-band (back in the 90’s) antenna for the Army and received a commendation from the Army Research Laboratory. Since then, Matt has been involved in 3 successful startups, received several patents, and worked in multiple roles – from cleaning labs, setting up demos, to closing deals with CEOs. During the bubble-burst era (2008), Matt founded and grew a consulting company with his wife.

Matt has been and currently is on several private companies’ boards. He advises new entrepreneurs, performs due diligence for potential investors, and is an angel investor. He co-founded the Capitol Business Development Association and is still actively involved with the CBDA. He would like the CBDA to work with AOC Capitol Club, IEEE, AFCEA, and other adjacent associations/groups.

Civically, Matt occasionally provides counsel and strategic services on various local, state, and national issues. Locally, Matt is currently the board member and Vice President of the Vietnamese American Community of DC, MD, and VA – The third largest block of Vietnamese Americans in the United States.

When Matt is not working on EW, selling antennas, or organizing activities and events for his board members at the AOC Capitol Club, he hikes, bikes, or kayaks around VA and MD, expands his container perennial vegetable garden, or tastes, rates, and/or evangelizes about bourbons and Scotch with customers, partners, and friends.
